My early youth was filled with adventures of exploring the countryside. We were living in Alsace France in a small mining village surrounded by beautiful country. My brother who was just one year older then I and a dreamer already and I explored the meadows for hours, mama called us we hid in the tall grasses, until her voice became such that we knew it was time to go home or get in trouble. Cornflowers and poppies, grasses, bees and dragonflies by the creek were capturing my imagination. Those memories are still vivid today as if it all happened just yesterday!

(A bit of information on how I paint... about my palette)
One of the things that make my work very unique is my palette. Unlike many artist at use paint straight from the tube I mix my own colors and shades. Usually right on the canvas as I paint, but if necessary on my palette. Color theory and color mixing is one of my strong points and I can visualize the color I want and know exactly what other I colors and how much, I have to use to mix and achieve my results. When you
compare my work to other oil painters especially those that paint impasto you will see many nuances and unique colors in my work. Each painting I create has a unique character and my work never looks cookie cutter. I have hundreds of my own unique recipes for different shades of green and other colors like different red or blues or neutrals and so on.

All this is the result of long experience as well as studying those artists that I most admire, the traditional impressionists and post impressionist. I look at their work closely, often in Museums imagining how they mixed colors to create those interesting and now famous paintings.

I also use some of the best quality artists paints that have strong pigments, like Williamsburg for example.

I use the same knowledge and gift for colors in my approach in watercolors or any other medium.
People often ask me "How do you get those great colors?" I would have to say in the same way a great saxophone player or trumpet player or piano player, or vocalist tease out the most beautiful sounds of their instrument. Much is learned, most is talent.

Just when you feel dreary, I paint you some Poppies

Drunk On Poppies
Oil and Ink on Belgium Linen
Artist: Ginette Callaway
Size : 20 x 24 x 0.75 inches (Sides are painted in red. Painting is ready to hang)
This painting is varnished!
Signed: Yes! Front and back
Time of Creation: 2008

Those that know my work probably know that I love love love to paint poppies. I've done them in about any medium and any shape and form possible including blue poppies.

This painting is in my famous style of squiggly ink work but instead of watercolor I used oil paint in this one.

Oil paint is very versatile. I usually paint in impasto style but in this one I diluted the oil paint with turpentine and medium to make it runny and achieve similar effects as I would with watercolors. I totally love the way it came out. The color are really this vibrant.
Please look at the close up pictures for detail.

It's also painted on fine Belgium linen which I love.
I prefer painting on line and do it whenever my budget allows. Linen is much more expensive then cotton canvas.

Don't let this one get away if you love it get it now.
People sometimes ask me to repaint something because they missed buying it when it was available. I have to say my style is very intuitive and trying to get the same result is impossible and I like it that way. I want you to have something truly unique.

I've listed this for $499 and free shipping and that is pretty much as low as I would sell this. Normally it would go up for about $800 but with the holidays coming up I am trying to turn this over as quickly as possible. Grab it up today! It's really a treasure to behold when you see it :-)
